After seeing Feightin nearly tear itself in half because the Atlinans stoked unrest, Erian and Haley head to the Royal Guard Academy. There, Haley prepares for war, while Erian has his eyes on what he could change as a guard. They feel safe enough to let a distraction like courting each other into their lives, but maybe the threat that drew them away from home isn’t foreign.

And maybe it’s still lurking in the shadows.
